“I’m a beer geek, not a beer snob. And all beer is good. And there’s a time and place for any kind of beer.”

Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head (via beerbeer)

I mostly agree with this, except there is no place for garbage brews like Keystone or Miller and Bud. The styles that these beers apparently are? For sure there’s a place for those. But just like there is no place for garbage brews of Belgian Quads or American IPAs, there’s no place for these brewers.

And there you have it, my friends: the words of a beer snob.

There aren’t “garbage brews” of Belgian Quads or American IPAs, just different brewers’ interpretations of the style. Nobody intentionally makes a “garbage brew,” especially if they sell it commercially. And just because you think it’s a “garbage brew” doesn’t mean everyone else does, either. You have to respect other people’s opinions and palates and know that a “C” beer to you could be an “A” beer to someone else.

And as far as American Adjunct Lagers go, which Bud and Miller are, they’re pretty true to the style. If you think they’re garbage, you think the entire style - recognized by the beer community - is garbage. A lot of people like that style, and you have to respect that. A beer geek might steer them to a better adjunct lager, like Schlitz Gusto or Narragansett Lager. A beer snob would talk down to them and tell them they should never drink those beers, and that “there’s no place for those brewers.”

The very act of calling beers that some people like to drink “garbage brews” makes you a beer snob.

Sam I believe every one has its place. Including the “garbage brews.” I of course never buy them
